If a person working on minimum wage (7.25$) would work 8 h a day, 6 days a week, for a month (4 weeks) they would make 1392 $. That is not a liveable wage.

    1. Switch to Mint Mobile phone service @ $15/mo. 2. Groceries for a family of 4 should be around $800/mo. 3. Pay off debt before saving or investing for retirement. 4. Always keep an emergency fund to cover 3 months of expenses. 5. No personal spending or miscellaneous until debt is paid off. If you have to wear old clothes, cut your own hair or whatever, sacrifice comfort until you're debt-free. Not being able to spend creates a sense of urgency to get out of debt faster.

I feel like if anyone walked up to anyone else & included this in their conversation people would be very confused. I know I am confused as to why this is a posted video? I’m happy your family earns enough to cover these large bills & expenses but why share? I’m honestly curious. I don’t see the benefit in telling anyone other than to let someone know the cost of living in a specified area but you didn’t specify where you lived. Also, the additional expenses would have nothing to do with it. You do you though. I was just wondering.

Same, as someone who also worked in the legal field and was high earning. I can’t imagine handing off my toddler and 6 year old to a summer program or preschool. No way. It's tight now. It’s such a hard decision and ultimately everyone has to do what’s best for them. I stay home with my daughter and often feel so guilty that I’m not financially contributing. I do try to remember that in the larger picture I’m really only out of the workforce for a few years out of the probably 3 decades I’ll be working. It’s such a little amount of time in the scheme of things but I know that the time I spend with my daughter now is so meaningful to me (and hopefully her).

Most insurance is more expensive if you pay monthly. Ask to pay once (or twice with auto) a year and it will be less. You can still set aside what you *would* be paying monthly but now you hold onto it instead of paying them a convenience fee monthly.

I have 3 kids close in age and after I had my third I stayed home with them all and just worked part time around their schedule. My youngest just went to kindergarten this past year and I went back to work full time. It was the best decision even if it tight with money for a few years to be home with them. The time goes so fast and those little moments are everything when I look back. The days of us just bored in the house, or going on a million walks a day to get out of the house. It was hard going through it but I look back and wish we could go back to that.

@@norwegianblue2017 I absolutely disagree. Sure, some stuff is extra but the cost of living is vastly different in different areas. My sister in law pays $700 a year on property taxes and lives in a large 4 bedroom condo. I have a 1000sqft rancher and pay almost $6000 and even that is very low for my area. I have friends that pay $15,000 a year and that isn't crazy high either!

@@laurensmoneymindset The Money Guy was awesome! If they weren't financial guys, they could at least go on a comedy tour! I want to say that you are on the right track with your decision to hold off on sending extra payments to your student loan. There was a lady there that had $1.1 million in student loans with her husband, now down to $500k with a 3% or 3.5% interest rate. The guys said since they have the behavior down, they can treat the debt as low interest and focus on investing/saving. The big take-aways were that not all decisions are math ones and more likely emotional ones that help you sleep at night. Also, "what small decision can you make today is going to launch you on your Millionaire Mission?" Keep up the great work!

Do you have your entire retirement in something like the S&P500? That’s a good plan considering you are young but majority of people your age has a majority of their retirement in an employer sponsored 401k which is invested in a target date fund and does not grow 8%. Realistically closer to 5%. I’m 30 years old with 200k in my employer 401k and I’m assuming 5% from that and then I have another 100k in my traditional brokerage invested in the S&P500 so I’m assuming 8% for that. Even I am concerned I won’t be able to retire early (55-60 years old) with a 5M goal.
